Breakthrough Learning

Friday Night at the ER® is an immersive learning experience used to move people from silo thinking to systems thinking. Learners will see how their local decisions and actions impact the larger systems in which they work, and learn key principles and strategies for optimizing a system of care.

The 1-hour tabletop simulation game is played in teams of four and is followed by a 2-hour debrief.

Educators and trainers use Friday Night at the ER to develop essential (or soft) skills and explore topics in areas including systems thinking, quality improvement and patient safety. It's also commonly used for leadership, teamwork, interprofessional collaboration, prioritization, delegation and more.

Friday Night at the ER is used by some of the nation's top nursing schools and hospital systems. It's sold in game kits with an optional online facilitator certification course (9.0 contact hours for nurses).
