Dr. Tassell’s nursing background includes clinical work in Women’s and Children’s as well as extensive experience in nursing leadership and education design. Dr. Tassell’s specific areas of educational interest include competency development/ measurement and nursing continuing professional development. With a keen interest in mentoring and educating the next generation of nursing leaders and educators, Dr. Tassell has taught a variety of topics at both Master’s and Doctoral levels and continues to hold active teaching roles. Valuing the benefits that certification brings to the nursing profession and patient outcomes, Dr Tassell is certified in Nursing Professional Development and holds a certificate in Evidence-based Practice.

As a nursing leader, Dr. Tassell has been involved in many different nursing organizations at the local, state, and national level including the National Association for Nursing Professional Development, The QSEN Institute, The Ohio Board of Nursing Advisory Committee, and the Toledo Chapter of the Ohio Organization for Nursing Leaders. Dr. Tassell has presented national and local podium and poster presentations over the past decade on a variety of topics related to Nursing Education, Leadership, Practice Law and Standards as well as Evidence-based Practice.

Dr. Tassell earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Health Systems Leadership from Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her Master of Science in Nursing Education was earned at Lourdes University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is from the University of Toledo.
