Julie Zerwic, PhD, RN, FAHA, FAAN is the University of Iowa College of Nursing Kelting Dean and Professor. Dr. Zerwic joined the College in the Fall of 2017 after a 24-year career at the University of Illinois - Chicago. Dr. Zerwic’s research has focused on individual’s recognition of cardiovascular risk factors and symptoms and patients delay in seeking treatment during heart attack and stroke. Dr. Zerwic is a national leader in developing strategies to diversify the nursing profession. She examined the impact of using holistic admissions on the diversity of students admitted to nursing and their perception of the impact on their class. In addition, she is examining the nursing curriculum for the content related to diverse populations. Dean Zerwic is a Fellow of the American Heart Association and the American Academy of Nursing.
