Understanding Inclusive Excellence

View Info

This presentation is designed to demonstrate to nursing schools that the integration of their diversity and quality efforts leads to inclusive excellence and this work should be positioned at the core of institutional functioning. This discussion will focus on the educational benefits available to students and to the institution when this integration is done well and is sustained over time. This session offers recommendations for infusing diversity and inclusivity into recruiting, admissions, and hiring; into the curriculum and co-curriculum; and into administrative structures and practices. Present evidence suggests that this approach, in preparing the future nursing workforce, strengthens the academy and communities of persons served.
