Navigating the Journey: Nurse Faculty Explore Creative Palliative Care Teaching Strategies

Providing holistic primary palliative care for patients with serious illness and their families can be physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually difficult for nurses, especially in situations of ethical conflict, perceived futility of care, and the end of life. With the release of the AACN Essentials, nurse educators now are called to intentionally integrate palliative and end-of-life education into curricula. Teaching concepts of palliative and end-of-life care can take courage as we explore topics that may evoke affective responses not only for students but also for ourselves. This session will invite faculty to experience creative approaches to teaching grief and loss topics and deepen awareness of the topics and impact on their own lives.
