This session highlights the impact of strong academic-practice partnerships (APPs) on nurse residency programs (NRPs), focusing on how these collaborations support new nurse transitions and align with Vizient/AACN program goals. We'll start with a brief history and structure of the Vizient/AACN NRP, addressing common myths and clarifying distinctions from general nursing orientation. Next, we'll examine the benefits and challenges of APPs, discussing national initiatives, key success measures, and feedback loops for nurse preparation. Data insights related to an individual's transition from student to professional nurse will be presented alongside real-world exemplars of effective APP strategies. The session concludes with practical recommendations for developing impactful APPs and an overview of AACN resources.
